It’s Thanksgiving week and as you prepare to cook and look your best for one of the largest dinners, remember to take care of yourself. Often, you get caught up with all the activities – you may be organizing decorations, entertaining family members, mastering the turkey, or doing it all!
In between all of the busy cooking and socializing, never let the exhaustion take a toll on your skin. Whether it's a cross-country flight, putting together a feast for your guests, or a visit with the in-laws, there are many ways to look cheerful and vibrant even if you feel stressed or hurried.
Get some fresh air in the morning. Because you’re going to be in a hot kitchen during the day, a cool morning (and a dose of vitamin D) will give you a fresh glow and makes you feel invigorated.
Take a shower. You’re going to be real sweaty throughout the day, so get clean while you can. Trust us on this one.
Stay hydrated. Make sure to have an optimal amount of water as your body works well when it’s properly hydrated.
Eat cranberries. Cranberries are a hit for a holiday meal. Cranberry sauce, desserts, or just plain fruit - they’re delicious and rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. Did we mention they’re good for the skin?
Bake pumpkin or apple pies. Thanksgiving isn’t complete without pumpkin or apples. It’s like having autumn in your plate. They’re not just desserts; you can use them in your beautifying diet! Pumpkins are a good source of vitamin C, carotenoids, and contain natural enzymes that help break down toxins. Just watch out for the whipped cream! Also, apples benefit your appearance since they contain nutrients that nourish your skin.
Serve turkey. It is the best part of the holiday feast meal and boasts a good level of protein. Protein plays a role in supporting skin, nail and hair health.
Fix your hair. Dry your hair after you shower. Wear it down keeping the front and top part looking finished or throw it up in a classy ponytail. Also, you can try these deep conditioning treatments before the big day.
After-party pampering. After you’ve arrived home or after juggling all the tasks, indulge in a much needed pampering. Get an at-home facial mask or a good scrub, and soak in a hot bath. This will get you ready for sleep in no time.
