Growing Aloe Vera in Washington

The aloe plant requires an average temperature of no less than 50 degrees fahrenheit. It can survive up to 104 degrees fahrenheit. It requires full sunlight, although an excess of sunlight can cause the leaves to turn brown. It needs minimal water, since it is a succulent plant.

The climate in Washington is too cold and wet in the western third of the state, and too cold in the remainder of the state to grow the aloe plant outdoors. The plant should be grown indoors, ideally near a window where it will receive plenty of sun and warmth. Your plant requires very little water and will suffer if it is not allowed to dry out completely between waterings. When watering, fully soak the plant, then allow to dry completely before re-watering.
