It requires full sunlight, although an excess of sunlight can cause the leaves to turn brown. It needs minimal water, since it is a succulent plant. The climate in Montana is too harsh to grow the aloe plant outdoors. You can grow it indoors if you can place it near a window where it will remain warm and get sunlight for a fair portion of the day.
